Minutes of the Dunnet and Canisbay Community Council meeting held in Freswick hall on Thursday 10 December 2009 at 7.30pm.

1. John Green welcomed everyone to the meeting. 

2. Poaching in Freswick

Inspector Angus MacInnes attended the meeting following earlier reports of poaching in the Freswick and Tofts areas. He listened to the concerns of members of the community present at the meeting. He would write to all gun licence holders reminding them of their responsibilities and send patrol cars out when they were available.
 
3. Minutes of the last meeting were adopted Proposed John Green           Seconded Eric Green
 
4. Matters arising from the minutes
Professor Jim Hunter was interested in the proposal to research the history of the John O’ Groats area. A meeting would take place with members on Thursday 21 January 2010 at a venue to be decided.
 Action Secretary to confirm with Prof Hunter
 

5. Village Officers

The Dunnet forest Trust would begin work in the spring on strimming pathways in the forest. Keith Muir was obtaining quotes to improve the grass verge in Canisbay village.

 

6. Discretionary Budget

Alex Macmanus explained how the Discretionary Fund operated and noted that there had been few, if any, applications from the Freswick area. 
 
7.  Go Play application
The result of the funding application to develop the play park in John O’ Groats had not been announced.
